TAG PTA Overview
Every TAG parent, guardian, and teacher is automatically a member of the PTA. We believe parents are their children’s first teachers and that strong parent involvement is key to academic success. The TAG PTA fosters collaboration between families and staff to support outstanding instruction, enrichment, and community building.
Our mission is to promote open communication, celebrate our school’s diversity, and provide resources that enhance our students’ education. The more parents get involved, the more opportunities we can create together. PTA members have launched and sustained many projects that benefit our children.
Examples include: funding new computers, bringing chess into the curriculum, hosting “Coffee & Tea with the Principal,” teacher–student basketball games, the Annual Silent Auction, and Scholastic Book Fairs. Much of this work is made possible through parent contributions and volunteer efforts.
Meetings are held monthly (typically the first Tuesday at 6:00 PM) and are open to all. They’re a chance to learn about school issues, connect with other families, and share ideas. While we share news via emails, flyers, and newsletters, in-person participation is invaluable. Meeting schedules and events are always posted on the PTA Calendar on the homepage.

Simply put, without the budget committee, the PTA would have no direction or compass. It is a great place for those that have a vision and are great at creating a meaningful and attainable schedule of priorities. You do not have to be a math genius, but the basics help. The most important thing here is dedication to TAG.

The Enrichment Programs Committee: responsible for enhancing the enrichment programs offered to TAG students. The committee assesses existing enrichment opportunities for students, identifies gaps, and focuses on greatest needs. The committee then organizes around specific programs (e.g., chess, physical education, language, etc.) to research the needs for enrichment programs, develop strategies for bringing the program to TAG, and find organizations that specifically address the goals of that program. This is great committee to join if you are interested in finding ways to make our scholars well-rounded.

The Fundraising Committee: responsible for coordinating fundraising events and activities to generate funds to benefit TAG. Parent contribution and participation is particularly important in this committee in ensuring the PTA can continuously fund these existing programs in enriching TAG students’ experiences.
